Core versus Aero: which system is appropriate?
Core is recirculation-led with controlled fresh-air mixing. Aero is fresh-air-oriented with integrated energy recovery.
Different primary roles
ONYX Core recirculates indoor air through a concealed ducted unit, removes moisture and returns drier, filtered air to the living spaces. It can also process a controlled quantity of outdoor fresh air mixed with indoor return air.
ONYX Aero is intended where continuous fresh-air treatment matters, combining ventilation and dehumidification with integrated energy recovery.
Fresh air is not exclusive to Aero
Core 70 and Core 120 both accept a controlled quantity of fresh air mixed with indoor return air. The difference is emphasis: Aero is designed around continuous fresh-air treatment.
Energy recovery
In Aero, outgoing conditioned air helps precondition incoming hot and humid outdoor air, which may reduce load compared with untreated direct fresh-air introduction. Recovery performance depends on outdoor conditions, airflow rates and system design; no fixed percentage saving is published without a project-specific calculation.
How the decision is made
Selection follows an assessment of moisture load, fresh-air requirement, available service space, duct routes, drainage and the property's operating pattern — not floor area alone.
