How does outdoor fresh air increase indoor humidity?
Fresh air is necessary for indoor air quality. Untreated, outdoor air in the UAE also carries a significant moisture load indoors.
Fresh air is not optional
Ventilation supports indoor air quality by diluting indoor pollutants, odours and carbon dioxide. Sealing a property is not a solution.
The moisture that comes with it
Outdoor air in the UAE can carry a large moisture load, particularly in summer. When that air is introduced without treatment, the moisture arrives indoors with it.
Controlled and treated introduction
Fresh air is introduced in a controlled quantity and treated before it reaches the living spaces. ONYX Core units accept a controlled quantity of outdoor fresh air mixed with indoor return air; ONYX Aero is fresh-air-oriented with integrated energy recovery.
The allowable fresh-air quantity depends on incoming outdoor-air temperature, relative humidity and system design.
Coordinating with existing systems
Where a building already supplies fresh air through an FAHU or a central riser, the introduction strategy is coordinated with that system during design.
