High Indoor Humidity

The room is cold, but the air still feels damp.

What you are seeing

Indoor humidity remains high even while the air conditioning is running. The room may feel cold but still damp or uncomfortable, with condensation appearing on windows, grilles or other cool surfaces. Persistent humidity can also contribute to musty odours, mould and deterioration of furniture, clothing and interior finishes.

Why it happens

Air conditioning is designed primarily to control temperature. It removes some moisture while cooling, but stops or reduces its output once the temperature setpoint is reached — even if humidity remains high. Oversized AC equipment, low cooling demand, short operating cycles, humid fresh air and outdoor-air infiltration can make this problem more noticeable. Lowering the thermostat may make the room colder without providing stable humidity control.

The ONYX NOVA approach

ONYX NOVA controls humidity independently of the room temperature. A dedicated concealed dehumidification system monitors humidity and operates whenever additional moisture removal is required, even when there is little or no demand for further cooling.

Treated air is distributed through the system's own engineered return and supply air paths, helping maintain more stable conditions across the required rooms and zones without relying on overcooling.

The appropriate equipment, zoning and target humidity are selected following an assessment of the property, fresh-air load, existing HVAC system and measured indoor conditions.
