ONYX Aura
ONYX Aura
Active electrostatic air purification installed at the return-air side of a compatible fan-coil or air-conditioning unit.

Electrostatic air purification for compatible AC and fan-coil systems
Aura is an active electrostatic air-purification solution installed at the return-air side of a compatible fan-coil or air-conditioning unit. Air is drawn through a washable pre-filter, charged in the ionisation stage and captured on the collection plates before it continues into the air-conditioning unit — treating the air already circulating in the property without occupying usable space.
Air returning to the fan-coil or air-conditioning unit first passes a washable pre-filter that captures larger particles. It then passes an ionisation stage, where fine airborne particles receive an electrical charge, and a collection stage, where the charged particles are attracted to and held on the collection plates. Treated air continues into the air-conditioning unit as usual.
- Active electrostatic purification rather than a passive replaceable filter
- Installed at the return-air side of a compatible fan-coil or air-conditioning unit
- 8 W power input
- Washable pre-filter and washable collection module
- Status indicator showing normal operation, cleaning due and fault conditions
Technical data
Published figures only.
- Function
- Active electrostatic air purification
Aura is an air-purification product. It does not dehumidify and is not a passive HEPA filter.
- Operating principle
- Washable pre-filter → particle charging (ionisation) → electrostatic collection
- Power input
- 8 W

Installation architecture
Purification module installed at the return-air side of a compatible fan-coil or air-conditioning unit, subject to the technical configuration of the property.
Most ONYX NOVA solutions are concealed ducted systems installed separately from the air-conditioning system. ONYX Zenith may also be integrated into an air-conditioning or wider HVAC system where the project design allows.
Air-treatment stages
- Washable pre-filter for larger airborne particles
- Ionisation stage that electrically charges fine airborne particles
- Electrostatic collection stage that captures and holds the charged particles
Status indication
- Green — normal operation
- Yellow — the filter and collection module need cleaning; reset is held for three seconds after cleaning
- Red — a fault has been detected; the unit requires professional inspection
Maintenance
- The pre-filter and the collection module are washable and reusable
- The ionisation module must never be rinsed with water; it is wiped with a mild neutral cleaner only
- After removal, wait at least 30 minutes before handling module contacts, so any stored charge can dissipate
- Modules must not be dried with heat or open flame, and must be refitted in the marked orientation and sequence
- Isolate the power supply before opening the return-air access panel
- Cleaning intervals depend on operating hours, dust load and site conditions; follow the schedule established at commissioning
Important engineering limitations
- Not suitable for high-humidity locations where condensation can occur, such as bathrooms
- Not suitable for corrosive atmospheres such as acids, alkalis or organic solvents
- Aura requires a compatible AC or fan-coil configuration and adequate return-air access for service
- Aura does not control indoor humidity; it is applied alongside a dehumidification solution where humidity is also a concern
Technical notes
- Specifications on this page are taken from the manufacturer product manual for ONYX Aura.
- Aura sizing is selected to match the compatible AC or fan-coil configuration following a technical review of the property.
- Aura complements, and does not replace, dehumidification.
Technical note: Final equipment selection and expected performance depend on site conditions, system design, outdoor-air conditions and professional assessment.
