Protecting Furniture and Interiors

Stable humidity helps protect furniture, clothing, artwork, joinery and premium finishes from prolonged exposure to damp conditions.

What you are seeing

High or fluctuating humidity can gradually affect furniture, fitted joinery, flooring, clothing, leather, textiles, artwork and decorative finishes. Wood-based materials may swell, warp or change dimension, metal components may corrode, and fabrics or leather can develop odours, staining or mould. Damage may begin inside wardrobes, behind furniture or within concealed areas before visible signs appear in the occupied space.

Why it happens

Interior materials continuously absorb and release moisture as the surrounding humidity changes. Prolonged high humidity, condensation and repeated fluctuations can place additional stress on sensitive materials. Humid outdoor air entering through doors, terraces or fresh-air systems may increase this exposure. Air conditioning controls temperature but does not always maintain a stable humidity level throughout every room, wardrobe and storage area.

The ONYX NOVA approach

ONYX NOVA assesses the property, the materials requiring protection, patterns of humidity exposure, fresh-air entry and air circulation around sensitive areas. A dedicated dehumidification system can then automatically maintain a more stable humidity range independently of the air conditioning.

ONYX Core may be used to control humidity across selected rooms and zones. Where continuous fresh-air treatment and energy recovery are required, ONYX Aero may form part of the project. Higher-capacity ONYX solutions may be selected for larger or specialised spaces following an engineering assessment.

Treated air is distributed to the required areas through engineered air paths, helping reduce prolonged exposure to high humidity and supporting more stable conditions for furniture, textiles, artwork and interior finishes.

The system cannot reverse existing damage and does not replace the repair of water leaks, waterproofing failures or other building defects.

Technical note: Final equipment selection and expected performance depend on site conditions, system design, outdoor-air conditions and professional assessment.
