Dehumidifier versus air conditioner: what is the difference?
Both treat air, but they are controlled by different variables and are designed for different outcomes.
What each system controls
An air conditioner is controlled by temperature and is designed to deliver cooling. A dehumidifier is controlled by humidity and is designed to remove moisture from the air.
Why they are complementary
ONYX NOVA systems do not replace air-conditioning. The AC continues to control temperature; the dehumidification system independently manages moisture and treats the air passing through it.
Separate air paths
A concealed ONYX NOVA unit is normally installed with its own return-air and supply-air ductwork. It is not installed inside the air-conditioning ductwork, and it does not rely on the AC running.
Filtration
Air passing through the unit also passes through the filtration stages included in the selected configuration. Only stages supplied in that configuration are provided.
