Whole-Villa Humidity Control and Fresh Air in Al Barari

A concealed ONYX NOVA system was installed across four levels during renovation, combining treated fresh air with dedicated humidity control while preserving the villa's finished interior.

The client's brief

The villa was undergoing renovation, giving the owner an opportunity to address indoor humidity and fresh-air quality before the interiors were completed. Rather than responding to visible mold or condensation, the objective was preventive: to create a long-term system capable of supplying treated fresh air and maintaining more stable indoor humidity throughout the property.

Measurements taken across the ground and upper floors showed indoor humidity of approximately 65% RH. The client also recognized that air conditioning alone controls temperature but does not provide dedicated, year-round humidity management.

This is the approach we apply across villas and private residences and on properties dealing with high indoor humidity.

A system designed by level

ONYX NOVA selected a combination of fresh-air and ducted dehumidification equipment to match the requirements of each level:

  • Ground floor — 1 × ONYX NOVA Aero 70 for treated fresh air and humidity control.
  • First floor — 1 × ONYX NOVA Core 120 for higher-capacity ducted humidity control.
  • Second floor — 1 × ONYX NOVA Core 70.
  • Third floor — 1 × ONYX NOVA Core 70.

All four units were concealed in ceiling voids. Separate ONYX NOVA ductwork was routed to dedicated sections of the same visible grille assemblies used by the air-conditioning system. Only a small portion of each grille was required for the ONYX NOVA airflow, helping preserve a clean and coordinated ceiling design.

Working within a finished interior

The principal installation challenge was limited ceiling space. Because parts of the ceiling had already been painted, access openings had to be measured and cut precisely. The equipment and flexible ducts were then positioned above the ceiling while keeping the visible intervention to a minimum.

The result

After commissioning, the system brought indoor humidity from approximately 65% RH to a controlled level around 50% RH. During operation, a separate spot measurement taken directly at an active supply grille showed 39.9% RH at 24.9°C, demonstrating that dry, conditioned air was being delivered into the treated space.

The completed installation gives the villa a permanent, concealed approach to humidity management and treated fresh air, operating alongside the existing air-conditioning system without relying on portable devices.
